Crisis Aid

DIRECT MAIL

I wrote this compelling and emotional lift note and appeal copy after a one-hour interview with a program manager.

The client had provided a pretty basic (and, let’s be honest, very boring) program write up, that really didn’t tell me anything. So, I asked if I could speak to the program manager to gather more info and maybe some client stories.

During one conversation, she told me the most heart-wrenching and compellingly emotional story. A story that very clearly showed just what an impact donors would have with their gift.

It was the story of a young girl, age 13, who was trafficked by her own parents. When the program manager first met this girl, her eyes were lifeless. She had no hope and was just a shell of a thing, curled up into herself, sitting on an office chair. Just a few years later, this same girl was smiling and filled with life and hope, ready to go to prom.

And THAT was the difference that donors made by giving to this organization. It is not something I could have learned without taking the time to actually speak with the program manager and asking her to share some stories with me.
